On May 28th, I flew from Des Moines, Iowa to Atlanta, Georgia to start my journey with Adventures in Missions. I spent a few days in Gainesville, Georgia, training, meeting my team, and preparing myself for what was to come. When it was time for us to begin our journey to Costa Rica, we had just a few schedule changes. These changes resulted in my team driving to the Atlanta airport at 9 pm on the 31st of May for our flight at 7:30am on June 1st. After being dropped off at the airport around 10:30pm we trekked into the airport in search of our resting place for the night. My group of 18 walked all over the ATL airport searching for a spot that could fit all of our bodies and bags. After a short elevator ride to the second floor of the airport we were not only blessed with enough space to lay down flat, somewhat secluded area, and darkened lights... but carpet! I had prepared my butt, back, and mind for the tile that covered the airport but was pleasantly surprised when we found clean and somewhat plush carpet. While I only got about 40 minutes of sleep, the carpet was a huge blessing while I laid with my headphones in, giggling at the stupidest videos on Youtube. I was officially sleep deprived and delusional. We “woke up” nice and early the morning of the 1st and embarked on our final leg of our trip to Costa Rica! We were greeted in Costa Rica with comfortable bunk beds, clean sheets, and soft pillows. While the carpet was a blessing for that night, I would choose my current situation any day.

I hope all is going well for all of you. Go and lay on your carpet/bed for me today.

Much Love,

Katherine
